Importance of Safety on Film Sets

A few weeks ago, Emerson College, Boston, reported that a student died accidentally on a student film set. A simple mistake that could have easily been avoided if all members of the crew focused on basic safety precautions. Link to the article and news story is here: http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/27576107/detail.html#ixzz1LzX5eLea
Last year an NYU student was electrocuted on a student shoot. In light of these incidence, I must reiterate the importance of practicing safety on set. Safety should be paramount to all of your other concerns. No one should die to get a shot. For the rest of your career, be safe, keep your crew and cast safe.
To get any advice regarding set safety, please inquire at the cage, inquire with the faculty, inquire with the department chair.
Cheers, Eve.
