Four Marvel / Netflix shows to be shooting in NYC!

According to the NY Times, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced that Walt Disney and Marvel Studios would spend about $200 million shooting the live-action series in New York City. All of the shows will debut on Netflix.

This means opportunities for PA and AC positions on union shows in NYC! Check out the article!

CALL for Filmmakers for Comic Book Interview

Alumni Chris Guzman is directing a project for comic historian Christopher Irving to promote his new book "LEAPING TALL BUILDINGS: The Origins of American Comics". Director Guzman is asking for AINYC students to help crew the project. Irving will be interviewing comic legends that appear in his book. Guzman needs the following crew - 2 Grips, 1 Gaffer, 1 Production/Makeup artist. He is requesting that qualified students send him an e-mail or call him by next Tuesday January 31st. Chris will give students information about the project when you contact him.

DF Students for Fashion Event This Friday

This Friday we will be hosting a HUGE fashion event for high school seniors interested in our Passion for Fashion Scholarship competition. We might have about 500 guests in attendance so this is a big deal. Our corporate PR person would like the event to be viral and is asking if maybe someone from DFM would be interested in filming the event.

PAs NEEDED FOR FEATURE BY SUNDANCE DIRECTOR & PRODUCER

Seeking unpaid PAs for low-budget indie black comedy called ART
MACHINE by Doug Karr, whose award-winning short TEN FOR GRANDPA
premiered at Sundance 2009. Producers include Mynette Louie of
CHILDREN OF INVENTION (Sundance 2009) and MUTUAL APPRECIATION (SXSW
2005, top 10 films of 2006--Artforum, Film Comment, Village Voice,
etc.).

Start helping with pre-production ASAP and work through the shoot,
which ends 10/25, or some portion thereof. All NYC locations, mostly
Williamburg/Bushwick. Full-time preferred but not required--we can
have a staggered PA schedule, but you must commit at least 10 days.
Must have clean driving record, and we prefer the ability to handle a
box truck (like a moving truck) or cargo van. You will make great
connections and learn a lot (you won't just be relegated to fetching
coffee). Aspiring producers are particularly welcome to apply!

Position: Academy Assistant
Location: Mid-Town Manhattan

This is an entry level position. Wage will be higher than minimum.

Person needs to be able to keep track of equipment inventory and assist with final cut pro (NOT TEACH) just assist students with basics while they practice. Also knowledge of basic 3 point lighting is a plus. We will further train qualified employee with proper sound recording and more complex lighting for in house productions.

Qualified applicants can have no chronic health issues (ie: bad back or stomach) We are looking for a person who works well with others and can think on their feet. We serve our people with authority. Benefits include no cost training at our facility.
